The large-scale painting reflects the artist’s unresolved grief over the euthanasia of a beloved cat suffering from terminal illness. The central figure, half-absorbed into darkness, embodies a quiet wish to disappear while guiding the animal toward a symbolic “heaven” suggested by the colorful, puzzle-like forms on the right. A small room on the left recalls their shared domestic space, grounding the work in lived memory. The piece does not offer moral resolution but frames the act as a complex emotional passage—between mercy, guilt, and release. Alongside this work, the artist explored Buddhist themes in other paintings, examining ideas of impermanence, introspection, and spiritual liberation as ways of confronting personal loss and inner conflict.
