Created in 2020, shortly after the artist’s graduation from SFAI, Your Love and Self-Binding articulate a nuanced psychological landscape shaped by cross-cultural displacement. These works examine the condition of existing between Eastern and Western ideological frameworks, where personal identity is continually negotiated and unsettled. Through a restrained realist language and symbolic imagery, the paintings evoke an atmosphere of solitude, cultural dissonance, and internal contradiction. Rather than offering resolution, they dwell on the ambiguity of belonging, capturing the emotional weight of inhabiting an in-between cultural space.
